Professor David Evans & Dr Jonathan Beacham: Food Future in Flux

"When it comes to thinking about futures of food it's really important to remember that the future is not disconnected from the present, to the contrary, it is activity in the here and now that shapes what kinds of futures can be possible"

Based in the School of Management, Bristol University, David Evans and Jonathan Beacham argue that the future of food is uncertain but will probably need to include some significant changes compared with how we eat today. Professor David Evans is a former member of the Sustainable Consumption Institute at the University of Manchester. His research explores the role of material and cultural practices in processes of economic organisation and social change. Dr Jonathan Beacham is an interdisciplinary scholar of food, broadly drawing from traditions within human geography, organisation studies, political economy and the sociology of consumption.
